Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is confident that Erik Lamela can enjoy a glittering career at White Hart Lane providing that he is allowed time to adapt.
The Argentine endured a largely anonymous first year in English football following a record-breaking £30m move from Roma, making just three Premier League starts.
However, the 22-year-old showed glimpses of his talent in Spurs's pre-season campaign, and Pochettino says that time will prove that the winger is capable of producing "big performances".
"Everyone expects a big performance from Erik Lamela," he told Sky Sports News. "He needs time. I expect from all, not only from Lamela, to show their ability."
The Lilywhites begin their 2014-15 campaign by facing West Ham United at Upton Park on August 16.
