Van Gaal to land FIFTH signing as defender undergoes Man Utd medical

Louis Van Gaal is closing in on his fifth summer signing at Manchester United.

However, it is not Arturo Vidal or Daley Blind.

Instead, Van Gaal has moved for 16-year-old Ajax defender Timothy Fosu Mensah.

According to reports, highly-rated youngster Mensah was at United's Carrington training ground yesterday to undergo a medical.

The teenage Dutchman is reportedly set to cost the Red Devils an initial £300,000.

Manchester City and Inter Milan were also in the running for Mensah but he has opted for United.

Mensah can play at centre-back, left-back and as a defensive midfielder meaning he is well suited to Van Gaal's 3-5-2 plans at Old Trafford.
