Arsenal are reportedly confident of securing a £33million deal for Porto star Yacine Brahimi.
The Algerian has been tracked by a handful of Premier League clubs including Manchester City and Tottenham.
Top foreign clubs including Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan have also been keeping tabs on him.
But The Metro claim Arsenal have surged ahead of their rivals in the battle to land the in-demand 25-year-old.
They suggest that the Gunners are prepared to activate his £33m release clause to claw him away from Porto.
It is believed Wenger has been hot on Brahimi's heels with a view to clinching a deal for him this summer.
Brahimi has netted five times in the Champions League this term.
