Manuel Pellegrini believes that his Manchester City team are worthy winners of the Capital One Cup following the 3-1 victory over Sunderland at Wembley.
Pellegrini sealed his first piece of silverware in English football today as City came from a goal behind to claim the League Cup.
The Sky Blues hit 22 goals in the competition en route to the trophy and the Chilean feels that the title is just reward for his side's performances throughout the tournament.
"I'm very happy," he told Sky Sports at full time.
"The team deserve this cup because we played well during the whole cup and scored a lot of goals. It's important for all of us - for the players, the club, for me, for the staff - all of us."
Fabio Borini had given the pre-game underdogs a slender 1-0 half-time lead. However, stunning second-half strikes from Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri helped overturn the deficit, before Jesus Navas sealed the title late on.
Consequently, Pellegrini's troops stay on course for a treble of domestic honours as City remain in contention for the Premier League and FA Cup this season.
