PSG reportedly reject Barcelona’s €43m offer for Marquinhos

French Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint Germain have reportedly rejected Barcelona’s latest €43 million for Brazilian defender, Marquinhos.

According to Brazil’s Globoesporte, PSG have rejected Barcelona’s €43 million bid for the 20-year-old, despite the fact that Marquinhos didn’t not feature as a starter last season.

Barcelona just recently finalised the €20 million transfer of Jeremy Mathieu from Valencia, but want Marquinhos to futher bolster the backline over the long season and be a player for the future.

It seemed certain that Marquinhos would leave Paris this summer, after the signing of Chelsea’s David Luiz, but PSG manager Laurent Blanc sees him as a fundamental player for the future and does not wish to part with him, and neither does the club.

Spanish sports daily, Sport has also reported that Barcelona will continue negotiations for Marquinhos, but if they are unable to sign him, they have a pre-agreement with Liverpool’s Daniel Agger, who they will sign before this transfer window closes.
