Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini hailed Frank Lampard as a "world-class midfielder" after the ex-Chelsea star signed for the Premier League champions on Wednesday.
The veteran will spend the next six months with Pellegrini's team before his move to MLS side New York City, and the Chilean coach is delighted with the arrangement.
He told City's official website: "Frank Lampard is a world-class midfielder and this is an opportunity which works perfectly for everyone.
"[It works for] the player, Manchester City and New York City."
Lampard has played the most minutes of any outfield player in Premier League history.
