Steven Naismith: 'Romelu Lukaku will want to prove a point'

Everton forward Steven Naismith believes that his teammate Romelu Lukaku wants to "prove a point" against his old club Chelsea.

The 21-year-old faces the Blues for the first time since his £28m move to the Toffees in the summer, and the Scot feels that the striker will show Jose Mourinho he made a mistake in letting him leave the club.

Naismith told reporters: "It will be a funny day for him. He will probably think he has a point to prove. He will probably feel he never got a fair chance at Chelsea. Although he got a few appearances for them, he would have wanted more.

"I don't really know if it will bring more out of him, but you would think it would. They signed him for big money and he probably thought he'd be playing at Chelsea for the foreseeable future. But it didn't work out that way.

"He will definitely want to, maybe not just score, but have a good performance to show it was a mistake to let him go."

Everton take on Chelsea in their Premier League clash later today.
