GLO/CAF awards tonight - Who will be crowned 'KING OF AFRICA' ?

The 2013 GLO/CAF awards hits Africa today in Lagos Nigeria,as 3 of Africa's finest go head-to-head for the prestigious African footballer of the year award.
Nigeria's John Mikel Obi and Cote d'Ivoire duo Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure are all in battle to be crowned KING OF AFRICA tonight in the 2013 GLO/CAF awards Gala night in Lagos Nigeria.

Cote d'Ivoire and Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is the current African Footballer of the year and is top favourite for tonight's award, looking to stretch his kingship tenure to three consecutive years. The big box to box midfielder is currently enjoying a fine run of goal scoring form with City that has seen him score 13 goals in 27 appearances to help keep Manuel Pellegrini's side in sight of a silverware this year. With great vision, strength and a fabulous long range passing ability combined with a great eye for goal,Yaya is a complete definition of a midfielder,a true glamour to watch.

Two time African footballer of the Year and Fellow country man Didier Drogba is also in running for the King of Africa award, following a fine season for Galatasaray, including a fine performance to help the Turkish giants leap frog Juventus to the round of 16. Didier is also enjoying a fine time in front of goal scoring 10 goals in 22 appearances for Gala this season. His great fighting spirit both on and offthe pitch has kept Roberto Mancini's side in fine shape for a good Champions League run, though a return to Stamford bridge to face Chelsea awaits the hitman. Intelligent, pacy, agile and ruthless in front of goal,Didier would leave any defence on their toes Until the final whistle. Just like Yaya, Didier could do little as their beloved Cote d'Ivoire lost out to eventual Champions Nigeria in the African Nations Cup 2013 Quarter-finals.

Nigeria and Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel makes up the final three nominees for this prestigious accolade, and having lifted both the UEFA Europa League and the African Nations Cup in 2013,leads the charge for the award. With brilliant performances for both Country and Club,Mikel would be considered by many to be the eventual winner of this year's edition. Though not a goal scoring midfielder,Mikel's contributions to both Chelsea and Nigeria has been at top gear in 2013. His agility and strength makes him a perfect cover just in front of his defence, from where his brilliant long range passing ability is a major threat to any defence in the world.

The GLO/CAF awards gala night  2013 will begin at 22:00 CAT.
