Libya today pipped Ghana to the 2014 edition of the African Championships, following a 4-3 victory on penalties, after a goalless draw in normal and extra-time.
The Libyans have goalkeeper Abdaula to thank, following his heroics to stop the first two penalties during the shoot-out. Abdaula was named Orange man of the match later on. The Libyans stretched the penalty further into sudden death, thanks to some very poor spot-kicks that nearly cost them the trophy. The Ghanians though would be the ones kicking themselves at the end of the day, after they failed to convert from the spot, following Libya's lead in sudden death.
Nigeria were awarded the Fair Play award, with striker Ejike Uzoeyi winning the Most Valuable Player of the competition and South Africa striker Parker collecting the golden boot for the highest goal scorer award.
The Mediterranean Knights lift their first piece of intercontinental silverware, winning only one game in normal time, through out the competition.
Congratulations Libya,worth CHAN 2014 Champions!!!
