Moyes would have been fired thrice in Italy - Vialli

Former Chelsea boss Gianluca Vialli has insisted that Manchester United manager David Moyes would have been sacked by now had he been working in Italy.

The Scotsman has been under scrutiny since taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson in the summer, but has failed to keep United at the highest level.

The North-West outfit are sixth in the Premier League table, out of all domestic competitions, and could face a Champions League exit following their 2-0 defeat to Olympiacos in the last-16 first leg.

"David Moyes, in Italy, would have been sacked three times now," Vialli told BBC Radio Four. "In the Premier League you get the feeling they give you a bit longer to sort out problems.

"They are more understanding and, most importantly, owners of football clubs don't think they know more than managers."

Vialli has not managed a club since being sacked by Watford back in 2002.
