Thibaut Courtois is believed to be closing in on a new contract with Chelsea.
The 21-year old Belgian goalkeeper, currently on loan at Atletico Madrid, is contracted with the Blues until June 2016 but the Daily Mail suggests he could sign a two-year extension which would keep at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2018.
Courtois is in his third loan season with Atleti as Petr Cech remains the number one in southwest London but the Blues have been keen to secure him to a long-term deal so he can eventually step into the Czech veteran’s boots.
Chelsea will reportedly increase Courtois’ £30,000-a-week wages with the new deal but the former Racing Genk gloveman could be sent back to the Vicente Calderon for a fourth loan season with Los Rojiblancos.
Courtois and Atleti are currently preparing for Tuesday night’s Champions League semi-final first leg in Madrid, coincidentally against Chelsea.
