David Silva to return from ankle injury in two weeks

David Silva has reportedly handed Manchester City a boost with the news that he could return to action before the end of the season.

The Spaniard was stretchered off during Monday's 3-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion with an ankle problem, which prompted Manuel Pellegrini to suggest that he wasn't sure if the 28-year-old would play again in the current campaign.

However, further tests have revealed that the injury was not as serious as first feared, according to The Guardian.

If Silva does make his return within the next fortnight, he could be available to Pellegrini for the game against Aston Villa on May 7, but a longer absence would mean that he would only be ready to face West Ham United on the final day of the season.

City are currently six points behind leaders Liverpool with a game in hand.
