Marcelo reveals pride at wearing armband

Real Madrid defender Marcelo has revealed his delight after captaining Los Blancos in the 5-0 win over Rayo Vallecano at the weekend.

The Brazilian was handed the armband due to the absence of Sergio Ramos and the continued benching of Iker Casillas in La Liga.

"My best memory is when I signed for Real Madrid, because when they said I was going to sign for them, I didn't believe it," he told Entrevista Mahou. "It was a spectacular moment. The warmth closeness of the people of Madrid were the most surprising aspects of moving to the Spanish capital.

"I feel like a Madrileno. We've been here since I was 18, it's a long time and we feel like we're from Madrid.

"You're still young in football. But then you remember how much pride it gives you to be one of the captains of Real Madrid. It is a grand responsibility because you're a role-model for all children who love football."

Marcelo will be out of action for the next two weeks with a hamstring injury.
