Statue of ex-Manchester United boss David Moyes appears at Anfield

A statue of recently-sacked Manchester United manager David Moyes arrived at Anfield on Sunday ahead of Liverpool's match against Chelsea.

An 11-foot bronze figure of the Scotsman was placed outside Liverpool's stadium following his dismissal last Tuesday.

Moyes, who was appointed as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor last summer after 11 years at Everton, spent less than 10 months in charge at Old Trafford.

Ahead of the Reds' match at Anfield, bookmakers Paddy Power unveiled a statue of Moyes with the plaque 'for his services to Liverpool Football Club' in reference to United languishing seventh in the Premier League table.

The Red Devils' arch rivals remain at the top of the league table with two games to play, but Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Chelsea has placed the title race in Manchester City's hands.
