FC BATE Borisov 3-1 Debreceni VSC (agg: 3-2) : Krivets strikes late to send BATE past Debrecen

Sergei Krivets scored a dramatic late goal to send BATE through at the expense of ten-man Debrecen.

FC BATE Borisov overturned a two-goal aggregate deficit against Debreceni VSC to book their place in Friday's UEFA Champions League play-off draw.

The Hungarian visitors were already 1-0 up from the first leg and when Ibrahim Sidibe converted a 20th-minute penalty, BATE needed to score three times. But a minute after Selim Bouadla was sent off for a second bookable offence late in the first half, Aleksandr Volodko equalised on the night, Vitali Rodionov scored and Krivets completed a remarkable comeback deep in added time.

Sidibe, scorer of the only first-leg goal from the penalty spot, struck in similar style tonight after BATE keeper Sergei Chernik brought down L'Imam Seydi. Filip Mladenović skimmed the post with a free-kick for BATE but, when Bouadla was dimissed, the Belarusian champions immediately took advantage with Volodko finishing off Mladenović's cross.

BATE went ahead after the hour mark when Mladenović centered for Rodionov to finish from close range. Then, with the away side sitting back to protect their fragile lead, another cross from the dangerous Mladenović found Krivets who headed past Chernik with two minutes remaining. Debrecen transfer to Friday's UEFA Europa League play-off draw.
