Jack Rodwell has revealed that he is hoping to work his way into the England squad after leaving Manchester City for Sunderland.
The 23-year-old, who has earned three international caps, sealed a five-year deal at the Stadium of Light yesterday after failing to make his mark at City.
Rodwell made the switch to the Etihad Stadium from Everton in 2012 under former manager Roberto Mancini, but struggled to force his way into the first team over two seasons.
"Watching the World Cup left a little bit of a bitter taste in my mouth," Rodwell told SAFC TV. "I was supporting the team 100% but I also wanted to be there so I think it's time I put that right, get back playing and get back in the squad."
Rodwell scored two goals in 26 appearances for City during his time with the North-West outfit.
