Louis van Gaal: 'Manchester United made errors at the wrong moments'

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has claimed that "errors at the wrong moments" were responsible for his side's 4-0 League Cup defeat at the hands of MK Dons.

Braces by Will Grigg and Benik Afobe helped Karl Robinson's outfit secure a famous win for the League One outfit, much to the embarrassment of the Red Devils contingent.

Van Gaal told Sky Sports News after the game: "It's a matter of making errors at the wrong moments.

"When you see the goals against us, I believe they were big errors that you cannot make. Then it was 0-2 and it was very difficult to come back into the game.

"In the second half we created a lot of chances and didn't have the luck to score. Then two more errors and it's 0-3 and 0-4."

The last time Manchester United played a second-round League Cup tie, 19 years ago, they were knocked out by York City.
