Napoli have decided to switch their attention from Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini back to Liverpool's Lucas Leiva.
Rafa Benitez had been linked with a move for Lucas earlier this summer but reports recently suggested he wanted to bring Fellaini to Naples.
However, the move for the big Belgian appears to have hit a snag.
Gazzetta Dello Sport claim that Napoli are unwilling to pay the Red Devils a £4m loan fee.
As a result, the Serie A club have decided to once again go for Brazilian holding midfield man Lucas before the new season starts.
Manager Rafa Benitez has been outspoken in his pursuit of Fellaini and he could be disappointed at not being able to land his No.1 target.
This week he said: "Fellaini is a Manchester United player, it does not depend on us, but it depends on them.
"He is a great player, but he is at another team. It appears he is waiting for Van Gaal. We will have to wait."
Inter Milan have also been linked with Lucas, who played just 29 times for Liverpool last term in an injury-disrupted campaign.
