England Under-21 right-back Carl Jenkinson has revealed he should be fit enough to make his competitive bow for new club West Ham United by the time the Premier League resumes.
Jenkinson suffered a hamstring injury in the first half of his first game for the Hammers in pre-season, but the 22-year-old is delighted to be back and is excited about the club's summer recruitment.
"Fingers crossed, I should be back for the next game," Jenkinson told the club's official site. "We've made some great signings and that was half the reason I joined.
"It seems like a long time out, but I have only missed three league games, so it's not been the end of the world. I'll be back soon and hopefully I can do the business on the pitch."
"The club is clearly making a big push this season and we've signed some more players since I signed. I think that's a real sign of intent.
