Peter Odemwingie has been left out of Stoke City's 25 man squad submitted to the Premier League, with fears that his season may be over.
The 33-year-old confirmed he will require surgery on the cruciate knee ligament injury that has de-railed his season.
Odemwingie picked up the injury at Manchester City on Saturday after coming on as a second half substitute, before being substituted himself shortly after Mame Diouf had put the Potters 1-0 up.
Each Premier League team has had to submit a list of which 25 players it plans to use between now and the January registration window.
Any player not registered will be unable to play for their team during that period, which rules Odemwingie out for at least the next four months.
Players under the age of 21 on January 1 2014 don't have to registered under Premier League rules, which meant Jack Butland didn't need to be included.
This made Mark Hughes's decision of who to include much easier, with only 25 senior pro's left to choose from which meant that Brek Shea and Wilson Palacios both made the cut.
