Gary Cahill to be rested for Derby County clash

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Gary Cahill will be rested for Tuesday's League Cup quarter-final away to Derby County.

Kurt Zouma will replace the England international in defence at Pride Park tomorrow night.

Cahill has played 22 games in all competitions for the Blues so far this season.

"We have no reason to rest people. Everybody goes," Mourinho told Chelsea TV. "We're going to play against a top team in the Championship.

"The only one that is not going, because he played against Sporting (Lisbon) and I never gave him a break, is Cahill. Cahill doesn't play; I play Zouma."

Chelsea are currently three points clear of champions Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
