Robin Van Persie says Manchester United must win the FA Cup to overhaul a decade of failure in the competition.
United last won the trophy 11 years ago and have reached the final just twice since.
Van Persie was part of the Arsenal team that beat United on penalties in the 2005 Cup final.
And the 31-year-old believes it is time to correct United's ailing record in the competition.
"I think it is vital (we win a trophy this year), especially with this cup," he said.
"I think it has been 11 years since Manchester United won it last.
"That was actually the first thing that Sir Alex Ferguson said to me as well - he said 'I want to win that cup'.
"We want to win it."
United face Cambridge in an FA Cup fourth-round replay and have a prospective fifth-round clash with either Preston or Sheffield United away to look forward to.
Robin van Persie was speaking at the launch of Swissquote, Manchester United's first global Official Forex and Online Trading Partner.
