Liverpool midfielder Lazar Markovic hit with four-game ban by UEFA

Liverpool midfielder Lazar Markovic has been hit with a four-game ban by UEFA following his red card against Basel in the Champions League.

The 20-year-old will miss his side's Europa League last-32 clash with Besiktas as well as their next two matches in Europe.

Markovic was shown a straight red card for catching an opponent with his arm during Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Basel at Anfield back in December.

The result saw Brendan Rodgers's side exit the Champions League group stage and drop down to the Europa League.

Markovic has scored three goals in 27 matches for Liverpool so far this season.
