Stevan Jovetic 'assessing Manchester City future'

Stevan Jovetic has revealed that he is considering his future at Manchester City after being left out of their Champions League squad for the knockout stages.

The Montenegrin international, who joined the Premier League champions from Fiorentina in the summer of 2013, was omitted from City's 21-man squad at the expense of new signing Wilfried Bony and has admitted that he is struggling to come to terms with Manuel Pellegrini's decision.

He told The Mirror: "I deserve to play in the Champions League. I know that. The manager has killed me with this decision. I feel I deserve my place and other people have told me the same.

"I have not made any decision about my future. I will wait until the summer then we will see. But the manager has put other players ahead of me, so maybe this is a message about what he wants to do.

"It is difficult to be focused when something like this happens, but I am a professional and I want to show that I can still play a big part this season. This is a bad time for me, but I am working hard and I will be there for the team."

City's Champions League squad was reduced to 21 players this season as part of their penalty for breaching UEFA financial fair play rules.
