Liverpool demand £50m for Raheem Sterling

Liverpool have reportedly slapped a £50m price tag on Raheem Sterling in order to stop the winger from leaving the club this summer.

The 20-year-old's Anfield future is looking increasingly bleak after he admitted this week that discussions over a new £100,000-a-week deal have been put on hold.

Publicly, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has insisted that Sterling will not be going anywhere at the end of the season no matter what the fee, although The Telegraph suggests that the Merseyside outfit do in fact have a price in mind.

It is claimed that Liverpool's owners will not buckle under any demands made by Sterling with regards to a new contract, and they intend to keep him in place until the end of his current terms, which have a little over two years left to run.

Club chiefs value Sterling at £50m, which they believe is out of reach for the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea - all of whom have been linked with the Englishman in recent weeks.
