Manchester United get derby boost with positives from Robin van Persie's training report

Robin Van Persie could be back for Manchester United’s derby with rivals Manchester City after getting through a training session unscathed.

Van Persie has been out injured with an ankle problem and has not played for United since their 2-1 defeat at Swansea in February.

But it appears he is ready to return and tweeted his hope of playing again soon, with the derby against City at Old Trafford just four days away..

He wrote: “Back to training with the group today. Was a great session. Happy to be fit and able to play again. Looking forward to my next game!”

Van Persie has scored just 10 goals for United this season and was today linked with an £18million bid from two Italian sides.

Meanwhile, United left-back Luke Shaw has also taken to Twitter ahead of the derby.

England international Shaw is expected to make only his 19th appearance for club and country this season and said: “Huge game this weekend!! Hopefully Manchester will be RED on Sunday!!”
