Chelsea to hijack Manchester United deal for Pedro

Chelsea could make a last-ditch bid to hijack Manchester United's deal to sign Barcelona forward Pedro, according to a report.

Speculation yesterday claimed that United chief executive Ed Woodward had flown to Spain to finalise details of the signing, but a new report claims that Roman Abramovich's Chelsea are also interested in the Spanish international.

The Daily Mail claims that although the Red Devils remain in pole position to sign the winger, Chelsea are ready to rival Louis van Gaal's side for his signature.

The paper states that the Premier League champions were looking at the 28-year-old earlier in the summer and suggests that they are now rekindling that interest.

The report also alleges that Manchester City are interested in Pedro, but that they will only make a move if they are thwarted in their attempts to sign Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

Despite ongoing speculation of a move, Pedro started the second leg of Barca's Spanish Super Cup defeat to Athletic Bilbao yesterday.
