Memphis Depay: 'Wasteful Manchester United must improve'

Memphis Depay has urged Manchester United to improve their finishing following Saturday's 0-0 draw with Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils registered 20 shots - eight of which were on target - as the Magpies held firm and left the Theatre of Dreams with a hard-fought point.

Having won their first two games - both by a 1-0 scoreline - the stalemate with Newcastle was United's first dropped points of the season, and Depay says that their profligacy is an issue.

"I could have finished a couple of chances but I didn't and I have to work on that," he told the Manchester Evening News.

"It was frustrating. We started great and sharp and we created some chances but didn't finish them. The second half also we created some more chances but again we didn't finish it so that was the frustration.

"When you look back you have to say it was one of those days but we have to start finishing. But we have to look forward and train and be ready for Club Brugge on Wednesday."

United travel to Belgium this week for the second leg of their Champions League playoff with Club Brugge, with Louis van Gaal's side leading 3-1.
