Everton's £28m signing Romelu Lukaku implies leaving Chelsea was an easy decision

EveRton's new record breaking signing Romelu Lukaku said he knew he'd permanently return to Goodison Park at the end of last-season.

The 21-year-old Belgian, accompanied by delighted manager Roberto Martinez, spoke at length about his £28m transfer  - admitting it was an easy decision.

He said: "I have a good relationship with the players. This is the place where I belong.”

“I decided quickly I wanted to come back. Here I have the trust of the staff and supporters.

His eagerness to sign for the Toffees suggests a desire to leave Stamford Bridge.

But the mature youngster thanked his former club for giving his first opportunity, despite a poor relationship with Jose Mourinho.


"I don't have hard feelings against Chelsea football club, they gave me the chance to play in England."

Lukaku let slip that his Everton team-mates knew that he would be back, showing the spirit is high within the camp.

"I've been in touch with the lads for two-months, so they knew the situation perfectly."
