DFB Cup holders FC Bayern München eased into the semi-finals of this year's competition with a 5-0 win at Hamburger SV, who have now lost their last seven competitive games in a row.
Mario Mandzukic scored a hat-trick for the defending champions with Dante and Arjen Robben also on target in the rout.
Hamburg showed the ill effects of six straight Bundesliga defeats as they packed men in behind the ball against a seemingly invincible Bayern. The hosts' hopes of reviving their season by reaching the last four of the DFB Cup were then dealt a blow when captain Rafael van der Vaart limped out of the action and once their resistance was broken, it was downhill all the way.
Mario Götze was allowed to march into the area from the left and square for Mandzukic, who stroked the ball in unchallenged from close range. Five minutes later, Dante headed Toni Kroos' corner past Rene Adler and Hakan Calhanoglu on the line, with Bayern planning for the semi-finals even before half time.
It soon became three in the second half when a long, sweeping ball from Kroos was taken down by Robben on his chest before he swept the ball past Rene Adler. The home fans did not lose patience or belief in their team, however, and continued to show their support, but Bayern's fans made their voices heard too, particularly when Bastian Schweinsteiger entered the fray for his first appearance since November.
Götze burst through once again before lifting the ball for Mandzukic to touch in his second of the evening at the far post, and two minutes later, it turned into a debacle for Hamburg. Mandzukic took advantage of some haphazard Hamburg defending to seal Bayern's berth in the semi-finals at a canter.
Bayern Munich will now face Kaiserslautern in DFB-Pokal semi-final,after the draw put them up against the side that overcame Bayer Leverkusen in the Quater-finals.
