Kagawa set for Man Utd stay as Turan rubbishes Atletico Madrid exit

Shinji Kagawa is likely to stay at Manchester United this summer as Arda Turan shoots down a move away from Atletico Madrid.

Kagawa has failed to become a first-team regular at United since his £14m transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2012, and has recently been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid.

The Japan playmaker was reportedly set to trade places with winger Turan, who is a long-term target of the Red Devils.

However, the Turkey international insists he is happy to remain with the best club in Spain, claiming the La Liga title last season.

The 27-year-old has been a key performer for Atletico since his arrival from Galatasaray in 2011, scoring 19 goals and assisting 26 in all competitions.

"I'm with the best club in Spain," said Arda. "I'm part of this system."

Louis Van Gaal's new 3-5-2 formation appears to suit Kagawa's favoured position - playing behind a three-man attack - but it remains to be seen whether the 25-year-old is part of the Dutchman's plans this season.
