PSG still looking to sell Edinson Cavani to Man Utd or Chelsea to fund Angel Di Maria move

Paris Saint-Germain continue to try and offload Edinson Cavani to either Manchester United or Chelsea to fund a move for Angel Di Maria.

Reports out of Italy today suggest that Real Madrid are putting pressure on PSG to complete a move for Angel Di Maria so that they can bring in Radamel Falcao from Monaco.

Real's preliminary talks with Monaco over Falcao are said to have gone well, but the talks between the Spanish giants and PSG have been more problematic.

PSG continue to insist that they are not currently in a position to pay the £60m fee agreed for Di Maria up front.

However, they are optimistic that they may be able to do so if they can offload Cavani, after denying that they are currently holding talks with Liverpool over a move for Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Louis Van Gaal is known to be an admirer of Cavani, who has made positive noises about staying in Paris despite growing unsettled playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic last season.

And last month Chelsea were also linked with a shock £40m move for Cavani after seeing Samuel Eto'o, Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku go this summer.

Cavani himself gave mixed messages about his future recently when he said: "I am sure I am staying, why would I not be?

"I am happy in Paris, under contract to PSG and calm. I feel good here.

"But, as I have already said, it does not only depend on the player.

"It also depends on the club and what is going on for them."

It now remains to be seen whether the pressure Real are exerting over Di Maria constitutes the sort of situation Cavani envisaged when he hinted he could yet move on this summer.
