Arsene Wenger may spend in January to ease defensive injury crisis

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that his side needs defensive cover, ahead of the January transfer window.

Arsenal have suffered a defensive injury crisis this season and the London club may move to sign an extra centre-back next month after the set-back to Laurent Koscielny.

Speaking about signing a centre-back, Wenger told BBC Sport: "Well, yes with Laurent Koscielny's injury we're a bit cautious and we need cover."

Arsenal are believed to have tracked Ipswich Town defender Tyrone Mings and are reportedly weighing up a January move for the 21-year-old.

Arsenal next face Liverpool at Anfield next Sunday.
