Chelsea aren't boring! Jose Mourinho blasts Arsenal with title taunt

Jose Mourinho hit back at accusations that his Chelsea side are boring their way to the Premier League title with a brutal put down of rival Arsene Wenger: "Boring? Boring is ten years without a title."

Chelsea now stand just two wins from their third title under Mourinho and their first for five years after grinding out another precious point with a goalless draw at the Emirates yesterday.

A win at struggling Leicester on Wednesday night and then victory over Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge next Sunday and the celebrations can begin.

There was no love lost at the Emirates between Wenger and Mourinho, who did not shake hands either before or after a tempestuous, tense game that saw seven bookings and four penalty appeals.

Chelsea ground out a win with a similar performance against Manchester United last week, but Mourinho lashed out after Gunners fans sang "Boring. Boring Chelsea," at the end of the game: "Boring is ten years without a title.

"That's very boring. You support the club and you're waiting, waiting for so many years without a Premier League title. That's very boring.

"The "boring" team is the team second highest in goals in the League, the team with the best goal difference. Only Manchester City have scored more goals than us.

"We have scored a lot of goals – and in a period where we don't have Diego Costa or Loic Remy and only one striker, we needed to change our dynamic."

Arsenal's last title under Wenger, who has not beaten Mourinho now in 13 attempts, came in 2004. All they have won since the FA Cup twice, in 2005 and last season.

Mourinho said: "We need two wins to be champions. If we do that, and I think we are going to do that, we will be champions having been top of the league since day one. Only top teams do that."

The Chelsea manager also insisted that skipper John Terry's performance – a masterclass in defensive covering again from the 34 year old – was his best ever in a Chelsea shirt, saying: "He has had fantastic performances in the years we worked together.

"But yesterday everything was clean: reading the game, giving cover, interceptions, reading the game. The team was phenomenal, but John was one step ahead of every other player."

Wenger, who team stay third in the table, said: "We are disappointed because we wanted to win. We have closed the gap on Chelsea since the start of the season, but they have the experience at the back, and can close the game down.

"Our build-up was quick and sharp, but the final ball wasn't there."
