Eden Hazard named PFA Players' Player of the Year

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has scooped the PFA Players' Player of the Year award.

The Belgium international saw off competition from a number of Premier League giants to scoop the prestigious award after playing a key role in the Blues’ title push and successful Capital One Cup campaign.

Hazard has been in blistering form this season, making 45 appearances in all competitions under Jose Mourinho and scoring 18 goals in the process.

The 24-year-old signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract in February worth £200,000-per-week, and is sure to play a starring role in any future success at Stamford Bridge.

Also nominated for the award were Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, Manchester United’s David De Gea, Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho, Chelsea team-mate Diego Costa and Tottenham’s Harry Kane, who landed the PFA Young Player of the Year trophy at the event in central London.

However it was Hazard who took the plaudits, and the midfield wizard will be looking to continue his fine form when Chelsea take on Leicester in a crunch league clash on Wednesday evening.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Lille icon exclaimed: "I'm very happy. One day I want to be the best and what I did this season is play very well, Chelsea played very well.

"I don't know if I deserve to win but it is good for me.

"It is good, it is better to be voted by the players - they know everything about football. This is good. I'm very happy."
